Mapping in Chaos Sync for Outlook

Postby dearnold » Wed Mar 03, 2010 7:54 pm

Not exactly sure where to post this since there isn't a separate area for Chaos Sync for Outlook -- but here goes. :)

I've been using CSO to move data from T&C 7.0.4.2 to Outlook to my Blackberry. It has worked fine as long as I go one-way. Recently, I synchronized the Contacts instead of using "Chaos Replaces Outlook". I believe that caused Custom Field problems and Category problems because I didn't have them mapped properly.

Where can I find my original mapping data? Is this mapping data in an ini file somewhere? In CSO 2.0.0.3, tab Mapping, I select Contacts in Step 1, and then it looks like Step 2 starts all over with the mapping process. I'd like to be able to just modify what I already have done.

I don't want to have to start over from scratch and risk messing up some other field...........and, no, I don't have notes from my original mapping (lesson 1 perhaps).

Thanks - Dianne

Hello Diane,

There is a file called OutlookSync2.ini in Documents & Settings/yourusername/Application Data/Chaos Software which has the mappings. If that is missing, then have to start again!

Thanks -- that's just the kind of info that I was looking for.

Now that I've gone through that file, my next problem/issue with the mapping is about Categories. Is there any way to map categories in T&C to Categories in Outlook? I've searched the Chaos site and the forum and don't see any discussion about it.
There is a field in the mapping routine -- and I have Outlook "Categories" mapped to T&C "Category" -- but that doesn't seem to transfer any data. In fact, it may have contributed to wiping out my Category labels in T&C when I did a synchronize (rather than a Chaos overwrites Outlook) -- don't know, but am suspicious.

I talked to Chaos Tech Support late this afternoon and probably wasn't specific enough with my question (losing Category labels) because I didn't know about the ini file then. At any rate, I didn't get any help with this during that call.

Appreciate any feedback from users of Chaos Sync for Outlook..........
