Question on mapping data. I've been using T&C/Intellect for a long time, after Packrat imploded in fact and I have no idea how long ago that was. Limped along with the last version and eventually found T&C, exported all my data from Packrat into T&C, had a Palm IIIe and life was fine.
So I have 6000 contacts, with every combination of phone / email addresses imaginable (some with only email, some with 2 phone numbers and 3 emails, etc.) always keeping with the limit of 5 that can be synced with the Palm.
ChaosSync for Palm always identified the label and type of data in the phone fields and mapped them to the proper type of field on the Palm.
But I can't seem to do that with the Chaos Synch for Outlook, as it needs the data to be in a specific location. (Like Phone 1-5 and consistently having "Business" in Phone 1 and "Mobile" in Phone 2 and Email 1 in Phone 3, for example.)
I couldn't do that if I wanted to, as I've been able to match the data requirements for a contact to the actual data I have for the contact. Sometimes I only have a phone number or just an email, and they will be in the Phone 1 field.
Has anyone migrated from the Palm/T&C marriage to anything else? Unless you are incredibly disciplined, how did you deal with all the mismatches?
When I use Chaossync for Outlook, I get a transfer, but phone/emails come over into fixed fields (like an email might be in the business phone field because it's the only data I have for a particular contact).
When that data goes to the Iphone, it just strips out the "@" and the period between the ISP and the "com" for instance.
The Palm Centro is already getting buggy so I'm thinking I have a decision to make soon, and it's all about my Intellect data..
Any thoughts?
John
